FINAL REPORT
Jahan Dotson is an example of a player who can shine in a mediocre offense with average QB play. Dotson is a speedy downfield receiver who possesses excellent body control and has shown that he can play physically even at 5-11. The former high school track star won state championships in the 4x100 and the long jump, and that ability shows on the football field, where he displays his athleticism, beating defenders at all levels of the field. He has excellent hands; he attacks the catch point. He does not drop the football very often.
Dotson is a nuanced route runner who explodes out of his breaks. He gains separation through his route running ability and speed, both of which make him a matchup problem for any DB. He can line up all over the formation, including the X if needed, where Dotson displays his ability to defeat man press coverage using his quick feet and a crossover move which exhibits his basketball background. He often gets caught by physical DB's with good hands at the LOS. He needs to improve consistency with his hand usage to swipe away a physical jam at the LOS.
After the catch, Dotson can make defenders miss; he will not run through defenders. Jahan Dotson is a high IQ player that can locate the open areas in coverage. If you get caught napping, he will take the top off of your defense.
