PLAYSTYLE & SCHEME FIT
Jermod McCoy is a long, instinctive, and ball-hawking cornerback with the tools to become a future CB1 in a zone-heavy or multiple coverage scheme. After transferring from Oregon State to Tennessee, McCoy earned All-America honors in 2024, leading the SEC in interceptions and pass breakups among underclassmen. He’s a technician in zone, showing high-level anticipation, route recognition, and ball skills. His fluidity and press ability add man coverage value, and he flashes potential as a returner. A torn ACL suffered in January 2025 clouds his short-term outlook, but McCoy’s football IQ, physicality, and turnover production make him one of the most complete corner prospects in the 2026 class. If healthy, he can contribute early and develop into a top boundary defender.
CEILING GRADE ANALYSIS
High-End Starter Potential (65-69)
A player expected to become a top-tier starter within their first few years. They possess strong physical tools and good technical skills but may have some limitations in their game. With development, they can reach near-elite levels and provide consistent impact at their position.
