2020 Big 12 Championship Game Recap

Big 12 Championship game Oklahoma vs Iowa State

The Big 12 Championship MVP

Spencer Rattler completed 22-34 passes for 272 yds and a TD, including an additional TD on the ground. The Sooners led 24-7 at the half. Iowa State would mount a comeback, but it would not be enough as the Sooners would hold on to win their 6th consecutive Big 12 championship.

Iowa State's First Conference Championship Appearance In School History

Iowa State played in a conference championship game for the first time in school history. At times, the game was fiery as Iowa State Head Coach Matt Campbell lost his mind on the sideline a few times. DB Isheem Young got ejected after a questionable targeting call in the opening minute. The Cyclones also didn't get a fourth-down call when trying to draw an offside penalty, even though it appeared that a defender was in fact, offsides.

Iowa States Offense Struggled

Brock Purdy, the third-year starting quarterback, completed 27-of-40 passes for 322 yards with two picks. Big 12 leading rusher Breece Hall rushed for a season-low 79 yards on 23 carries. Hall averaged 135.7 yards per game during the regular season, with 139 against the Sooners in October.

Oklahoma will compete in a New Years' Six bowl and build on their momentum since their last loss to Iowa State back in October.
