ACC Player of The Year: Clemson RB Travis Etienne
Ranking 2nd in yds per carry nationally (8.3), Etienne has been the focal point of the undefeated Tiger offense in 2019, racking up 1386 yds on 168 carries and 16 TD’s, while also adding 28 receptions for 289 yds and 2 TDs.
Clemson's offensive success can be attributed to the team's overall talent. Still, Etienne‘s explosive running ability forces defenses to load up the box opening opportunities for Trevor Lawrence in the passing game. The Tigers are the most complete team next to Ohio State this season, and if they are going to win the National title for the 2nd year in a row, they might need to lean on Etienne late in a playoff matchup to grind out a win.
Etienne has not had a single game with more than 20 attempts in 2019, and this can be attributed to the Tigers only Having one game this season that was in doubt late into the 4th QTR against North Carolina where he was mostly held in check with 14 carries for 67 Yds.
Etienne has Improved as a pass catcher and blocker, and these are the two elements that may decide his draft stock at the next level. His speed and explosiveness can sometimes work against him as he tends to not wait long enough for blocks to set up.
