PASS GAME ANALYSIS

As a passer, Hooker exhibits accuracy at all levels while possessing good arm strength and solid mobility to keep plays alive in the passing game. Hooker plays with great poise in the pocket. He is willing to stand in and take a shot to make a throw. Hooker plays in a college-style vertical spread offense which might hinder his ability to enter the NFL as an instant impact-level starter. His development (could) hinge on who his coach is and their willingness to build an offense around his skillset. If in the right situation with time to develop his ability to read an NFL-level defense, Hooker has all the tools to be a successful NFL starting QB.

RUN GAME ANALYSIS

As a runner, Hooker has good mobility but is an upright runner, looks stiff, and displays limited agility. With that said, Hooker has enough speed to force defenses to account for him in the run game, and because of his size (6-4 218lbs), Hooker can use his frame to pick up the tough yards in critical situations. Wherever he lands in the NFL, he will benefit from using zone read and RPO, forcing defenses to defend all eleven.

FINAL REPORT

Hendon Hooker transferred to Tennessee from Virginia Tech in 2021. He would not enter the 2021 season as the starter, but he would eventually take over without turning back, posting 2900 yards, 31 TD's, and only 3 INT's. In 2022, Hooker is already off to a similar start. Hooker has proven to be an efficient player in an offense that doesn't ask him to do much as a passer beyond his predetermined read. Hooker's development will depend on where he lands in the NFL. If forced to start as a rookie, he will have a lot of ups and downs, so it is advisable that whoever drafts him build the offense around his strengths early.
