The Football Scout 365 All 2021 NFL Draft Defensive Team

The 2020 college football regular season has concluded, and with only the conference championships, bowls, and the playoff left to go, we are ready to unveil our 2021 CFB All NFL Draft Team. We have already finished the offensive side of the football, it is now time to showcase our 2021 CFB All NFL Draft Defensive Team.

it is now time to showcase our 2021 CFB All NFL Draft Defensive Team.

The Top Prospect

Our top-rated defender used to be Penn State LB Micah Parsons. We had Parson's as the number two overall prospect at one point, but after sitting out the 2020 CFB season due to the pandemic, we moved him down the board to 11th. Some may question the decision, and he is no doubt worthy of a top 10 ranking and may very well move back into the top 10 or even the top 5 pending combine participation and other combine style workouts. We also took into account the LB position. Parsons can lineup all over the second level and is a fantastic defender, but the value of the LB position is lower than that of the CB and DL positions; therefore, we adjusted the rankings in the last week to accommodate this particular line of thinking. Our top defender entering the draft is Alabama CB Patrick Surtain, who we have ranked 7th overall. We believe that Surtain will be the first defender and secondary player off the board in the 2021 NFL draft

2020 Instant Impact Defensive Player of The Year

we believe that Parsons is, in fact, one of if not the top defender entering the 2021 NFL Draft.

Toss all common sense out the window in 2020. We just said to you above that LB's are not as important as first and third-level defenders. We then proceed to tell you that Micah Parsons was once in the top 5 overall, but we moved him outside of the top 10. What is wrong with our logic? Nothing, we believe that Parsons is, in fact, one of if not the top defender entering the 2021 NFL Draft. You may be wondering how so, Parsons sat out the year due to the pandemic and recorded zero statistics? The Penn State defense in 2020 without Parson's is a dumpster fire, and there is no doubt that the Nittany Lions missed his presence, which is why he is being named the 2020 Instant Impact Defensive Player of the year.

Parsons announced on Aug. 6, 2020, that he was forgoing his remaining eligibility at Penn State to focus on training for the 2021 NFL Draft.
