Wheatley is a rangy, instinctive single-high safety with high-end starter potential, capable of anchoring the back end of an NFL defense. He consistently finds the football with elite range, strong ball tracking, and disciplined zone awareness. Best deployed as a post safety in Cover 1 or Cover 3, Wheatley excels when allowed to read the quarterback, overlap routes, and erase vertical threats. While he is an aggressive run supporter, occasional over-eagerness and tackling technique variance show up when he triggers downhill.
