  • 2026 NFL Draft QB Rankings Update: Top Quarterbacks Rising — Fernando Mendoza, Dante Moore, and LaNorris Sellers Lead the Class

2026 NFL Draft QB Rankings Update: Top Quarterbacks Rising — Fernando Mendoza, Dante Moore, and LaNorris Sellers Lead the Class 2026 NFL Draft QB rankings update: Fernando Mendoza, Dante Moore, and LaNorris Sellers lead a deep quarterback class. Full scouting notes and projections. The 2026 NFL Draft kicks off April 23 in Pittsburgh, and as we reach the midpoint of the 2025 college football season, the quarterback picture is beginning to take shape. After a record-setting 2024 draft that saw six quarterbacks selected in the top 12 and a quieter 2025 cycle with only two first-rounders, this year’s group projects somewhere in between — deep, talented, and full of developing storylines. Right now, Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza leads the way in our early projections, followed by Garrett Nussmeier, LaNorris Sellers, and Dante Moore — all appearing in Round 1 of our latest Mock Draft 2.0 . Carson Beck is rebuilding his stock at Miami and has played his way back into the early-round conversation. This week’s Football Scout 365 Scouting Notebook builds off our updated Big Board Rankings , focusing on how each of these quarterbacks has evolved since the summer. The back half of the season will ultimately determine who cements their place at the top — but the early tape points to one of the most balanced and intriguing QB classes in recent years. 1) Fernando Mendoza, Indiana — Round 1 Projection (Mid-Late Day 1) Mendoza has gone from an intriguing transfer to a legitimate first-round prospect. At 6-foot-5, 225 pounds, he fits the prototype: big arm, excellent vertical touch, and comfort operating from the pocket. Indiana’s RPO-heavy system has showcased his quick decision-making and leverage-based accuracy, particularly in the red zone, where he leads the FBS in touchdowns. What stands out most is Mendoza’s poise. He’s calm under pressure and decisive from structure, though his accuracy dips when forced to throw off-platform. He’ll need to tighten lower-body mechanics to reach his ceiling, but the growth from Cal to Indiana has been dramatic. Right now, he’s playing his way into the mid-to-late first-round range and trending up. 2) Dante Moore, Oregon — Round 1 Projection (Under Review, Trending Day 1) Few players have elevated their draft profile faster than Dante Moore. After transferring from UCLA and sitting a year behind Dillon Gabriel, Moore has flourished in Will Stein’s offense. Through five games, he’s thrown for 1,210 yards, 14 touchdowns, and just one interception while completing over 74 percent of his passes. Moore’s rhythm, accuracy, and calm under fire are reminiscent of a young C.J. Stroud. His ability to stay composed in loud environments—like the double-overtime win at Penn State—shows maturity beyond his age. Scouts still want a larger sample against top defenses, but the early signs point toward first-round tools and temperament. 3) LaNorris Sellers, South Carolina — Late Round 1 to Early Day 2 Projection Sellers remains one of the most polarizing evaluations in this class. At 6-3, 240, he looks like a linebacker but moves like a running back, combining raw power with one of the strongest arms in college football. His off-script ability and pocket strength jump off the tape. The issue has always been consistency—particularly post-snap processing and pacing on short throws. Sellers has cut his off-target rate nearly in half from a year ago, and his ball placement has improved. If he keeps that trajectory, he’ll move firmly into the top-10 mix. For now, his mid-level starter grade undersells his near-elite ceiling. 4) Garrett Nussmeier, LSU — Early Day 1 to Mid Day 2 Projection Nussmeier entered the season with Round-1 buzz and has shown both the strengths and inconsistencies that define his game. He’s a confident thrower who attacks tight windows with anticipation and rhythm. LSU’s quick-hitting system limits his deep attempts, but his tape shows the arm strength and courage to challenge downfield when asked. He can drift into hero-ball tendencies, trusting his arm too much, yet the baseline skill set—quick release, high IQ, and clean mechanics—keeps him in the day 1 conversation. 5) Carson Beck, Miami — Late Day 1 to Mid Day 2 Projection Beck’s transfer from Georgia to Miami has revived his career. He’s rediscovered the confidence and rhythm that made him a first-round candidate a year ago. Through five games, he’s thrown for over 1,200 yards and 11 touchdowns, showing command of a timing-based passing structure that fits his style. Beck isn’t flashy, but his footwork, accuracy, and anticipation translate cleanly to the NFL. If he sustains this level of efficiency, he could sneak back into the late-Round-1 discussion—especially given how teams value experienced, pro-ready quarterbacks. 6) John Mateer, Oklahoma — Early to Mid Day 2 Projection Mateer’s story is about competitiveness. He was on a heater before a hand injury sidelined him, showcasing explosive dual-threat traits and fearlessness from the pocket. His numbers at Washington State in 2024 and now at Oklahoma prove he can carry an offense. The arm talent is real, but so is the volatility. Mateer thrives in chaos, sometimes too much—his footwork and tempo can get wild, leading to scattershot accuracy. Still, his playmaking instincts and leadership keep evaluators intrigued. A strong finish could push him right back into Round-2 consideration. 7) Drew Allar, Penn State — Early to Mid Day 2 Projection (Trending Down) Allar entered the year as a possible QB1 candidate, but his stock has slipped. Despite prototypical size (6-5, 235) and one of the strongest arms in the class, his ball placement and decision-making have been inconsistent. He’s still dangerous on vertical concepts and play-action shots, yet the tape shows too many missed layups. NFL scouts remain intrigued by the raw tools, but Allar needs signature performances against top competition to rebuild confidence. For now, he projects as a developmental prospect who could still find a home early on Day 2 thanks to traits alone. Watchlist Quarterbacks Ty Simpson, Alabama — Early to Mid Day 2 Projection Simpson has quietly become one of the biggest risers of the 2025 college football season. After a shaky opener, he’s steadied Alabama’s offense with poise and precision, throwing for nearly 1,500 yards and 13 touchdowns to just one interception. His 84% catchable pass rate ranks among the best in the FBS, a testament to his timing and accuracy in rhythm. Simpson’s ability to create off-script and deliver from multiple platforms has boosted his NFL projection, and scouts are beginning to believe he could climb into late-Round-1 territory if his upward trajectory continues. Sam Leavitt, Arizona State — Early Day 3 Projection Leavitt’s dual-threat ability continues to flash on tape. The former Michigan State transfer brings mobility, confidence, and a quick, whippy release that fits today’s spread-heavy league. He can generate explosive plays from broken structures, though his tendency to play too fast leads to risky throws. Leavitt has starting upside if he can refine his field vision and win more consistently from structure. Cade Klubnik, Clemson — Mid to Late Day 3 Projection Once viewed as a potential No. 1 pick, Klubnik’s evaluation has cooled. His accuracy, timing, and anticipation have been inconsistent, particularly under pressure. Despite the regression, he still owns one of the cleaner throwing motions in this class and flashes functional mobility. With more consistent footwork and decision-making, Klubnik could rebuild his stock as a developmental backup with long-term starter traits. Taylen Green, Arkansas — Early to Mid Day 3 Projection Green has reignited his career after transferring from Boise State, immediately taking command of the Arkansas offense. At 6-foot-6 and 224 pounds, he’s one of the most physically gifted passers in the nation — posting 1,398 passing yards, 12 touchdowns, and adding 441 rushing yards and two scores. His long stride and vertical acceleration stress defenses, while his arm strength allows him to attack downfield with ease. Josh Hoover, TCU — Mid to Late Day 3 Projection Hoover might be one of the most underrated quarterbacks in the country. A year removed from setting TCU’s single-season passing record (3,949 yards), he’s once again producing at a high level — ranking top-10 nationally in yardage with 1,517 passing yards, 15 touchdowns, and just four interceptions. Hoover’s compact release and quick trigger allow him to fit throws into tight windows, and he shows advanced understanding of progressions for a college passer.

Understanding Our Summer Scouting QB Tiers: Grading by Ceiling Potential During the summer scouting period, each quarterback is evaluated based on their current grade and projected ceiling potential ahead of the 2025 college football season. These tiered projections provide insight not just into who a player is today—but who they could become with growth in key developmental areas. For example, a quarterback currently graded as a Mid-Level Starter may show Elite or High-End Starter potential, helping identify the traits and refinements needed to reach that next level. This framework is essential for projecting how players could rise (or fall) during the 2025 season and into the 2026 NFL Draft process if they declare. Below are the QB to watch in 2025 Elite Starter Ceiling A rare, franchise-changing quarterback with elite physical tools, refined mechanics, and high-level football IQ. Can dominate from Day 1 and lead a team immediately, making him a likely top 5–10 pick in the NFL Draft. Arch Manning, Texas Ht/Wt: 6-4, 220 | Class: RSO Current Grade: High-End Starter Potential (2nd–3rd Round Projection) Potential Ceiling Grade: Elite Starter Potential (Top 5 Pick) Player Comparison: Joe Burrow × Trevor Lawrence × Justin Herbert Analysis: A third-year quarterback with 12 appearances and a 2–0 record as a starter, Arch Manning enters 2025 as one of the most naturally gifted passers in the country. In limited action last season, he completed 68% of his passes for 939 yards, 9 touchdowns, and just 2 interceptions—posting an elite 184.0 passer rating. A smart, mobile playmaker with exceptional off-platform ability, Manning fits best in a modern pro-style system built around play-action and layered reads. He’s already earned recognition as SEC Co-Freshman of the Week and Earl Campbell National Player of the Week. Though currently graded as a High-End Starter , Manning could push into Near Elite or Elite territory with improved anticipation, faster processing under pressure, and more live-game reps against top-tier competition. LaNorris Sellers, South Carolina Ht/Wt: 6-3, 242 | Class: R-Sophomore Current Grade: Low Level Starter Potential (5th–6th Round Projection) Potential Ceiling Grade: Elite Starter Potential (Top 5 Pick) Player Comparison: Anthony Richardson × Jalen Milroe × Josh Dobbs Analysis: A rare blend of size, speed, and arm strength, LaNorris Sellers enters 2025 as one of the most physically gifted quarterbacks in college football. In his first full season as South Carolina’s starter, Sellers threw for 2,534 yards, 18 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions with a 65.6% completion rate and a 69.8 QBR, while adding 674 rushing yards and 7 touchdowns on the ground. His explosive dual-threat ability, highlighted by 47 forced missed tackles and over 580 yards after contact, has drawn comparisons to Anthony Richardson. Sellers is nearly impossible to bring down in space and delivers laser throws from a variety of platforms. However, his turnover-worthy play rate (4.7%) and streaky decision-making post-snap remain areas for development. If he can clean up his processing, improve timing, and refine his mechanics under pressure, Sellers has the raw tools to rise into the No. 1 overall pick conversation by next April. Near Elite Starter Ceiling High-upside quarterback with Pro Bowl potential and only minor development needs. Displays outstanding athleticism and consistency with coachable flaws. Expected to break out by Year 2 and develop into a long-term team leader, projecting as a mid-to-late first-round pick . Garrett Nussmeier, LSU Ht/Wt: 6-2, 200 | Class: R-Junior Current Grade: Mid-Level Starter Potential (4th–5th Round Projection) Potential Ceiling Grade: Near Elite (Mid-to-Late 1st Round) Player Comparison: Tony Romo × Derek Carr × Kirk Cousins Analysis: The son of former NFL QB and current Saints OC Doug Nussmeier, Garrett Nussmeier enters 2025 as LSU’s full-time starter with high expectations. In his first full season of action, he threw for 4,052 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions while completing 64.2% of his passes and finishing with an 80.0 QBR. A confident pocket passer with a strong arm and clean throwing mechanics, Nussmeier shines in vertical passing concepts and thrives when working from structure. He’s shown a natural feel for pressure, flashes command at the line, and isn't afraid to challenge tight windows. However, his tendency to lock onto first reads, force throws into coverage, and drift outside the pocket unnecessarily limits his consistency. If he sharpens his decision-making, accelerates his progressions, and proves he can operate full-field reads, he has the tools to rise significantly in the 2026 draft conversation. Drew Allar, Penn State Ht/Wt: 6-5, 240 | Class: Junior Current Grade: Mid-Level Starter Potential (4th–5th Round Projection) Potential Ceiling Grade: Near Elite Starter Potential (Late 1st–Early 2nd Round Projection) Player Comparison: Josh Allen × Joe Flacco × Kerry Collins Analysis: A former five-star recruit and Ohio’s Mr. Football, Drew Allar enters his senior season as one of the most naturally gifted passers in the country. He threw for 3,327 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions in 2024 while completing 66.5% of his passes and posting a 77.5 QBR. Allar’s frame, arm strength, and processing ability are standout traits in a vertical-based offense, particularly under new OC Andy Kotelnicki. He thrives hitting layered throws between zones and has shown growth working through progressions. However, inconsistent footwork and touch still lead to accuracy issues, especially when throwing on the move or off-platform. If Allar refines his mechanics and improves his decision-making under pressure, he has the talent to emerge as a first-round quarterback and long-term NFL starter. Sam Leavitt, Arizona State Ht/Wt: 6-2, 200 | Class: R-Sophomore Current Grade: High-End Starter Potential (2nd–3rd Round Projection) Potential Ceiling Grade: Near Elite Starter Potential (Late 1st Round Projection) Player Comparison: Bo Nix × Desmond Ridder × Brock Purdy Analysis: Sam Leavitt emerged as one of the nation’s breakout quarterbacks in 2024 after transferring from Michigan State, leading Arizona State to a Big 12 title and College Football Playoff appearance. He threw for 2,885 yards and 24 touchdowns with just 6 interceptions, adding 443 rushing yards and ranking ninth among FBS quarterbacks with an 89.1 PFF grade. Leavitt excels in Marcus Arroyo’s spread scheme with his ability to extend plays, protect the football (1.1% turnover-worthy play rate), and attack all areas of the field with velocity. His quick decision-making, dual-threat ability, and poise beyond his years give him serious top-50 potential. If he continues to grow as a post-snap processor and improves his intermediate ball placement, Leavitt could rise into the first-round conversation as a modern system-ready quarterback with all the tools. High-End Starter Ceiling A well-rounded prospect with NFL starter traits who still has areas to polish. With proper coaching, he can grow into a high-level contributor, typically landing in the second to third round of the NFL Draft. Carson Beck, Miami Ht/Wt: 6-4, 220 | Class: Senior Current Grade: Mid-Level Starter Potential (4th–5th Round Projection) Potential Ceiling Grade: High-End Starter Potential (2nd–3rd Round Projection) Player Comparison: Jared Goff × Christian Hackenberg Analysis: After going 24–3 as Georgia’s starting quarterback, Carson Beck transferred to Miami for his final season in hopes of elevating his draft stock following an injury-shortened 2024 campaign. He threw for 3,485 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions last season while completing 64.7% of his passes and finishing with an 80.9 QBR. A rhythm-based passer with prototypical size and strong pocket presence, Beck excels in timing-based and play-action systems that allow him to work the middle of the field with anticipation. His experience handling full-field progressions and manipulating defenders with his eyes makes him one of the most polished decision-makers in this class. However, his accuracy declines when forced off-platform, and his efficiency plummeted under pressure in 2024. With improved poise against blitz packages and more confidence pushing throws outside the numbers, Beck could push his stock into Day 2 range as a system-specific NFL starter. Cade Klubnik, Clemson Ht/Wt: 6-2, 205 | Class: Senior Current Grade: Mid-Level Starter Potential (4th–5th Round Projection) Potential Ceiling Grade: High-End Starter Potential (2nd–3rd Round Projection) Player Comparison: Desmond Ridder × Baker Mayfield × Taylor Heinicke Analysis: A former five-star recruit with elite high school credentials, Cade Klubnik enters 2025 as a dual-threat playmaker with 37 games of experience and 28 starts. In 2024, he passed for 3,639 yards, 36 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions with a 63.4% completion rate and 78.7 QBR, while adding 784 rushing yards and 13 career rushing scores. Klubnik flashes plus arm strength, clean mechanics, and athleticism to extend plays in Garrett Riley’s Air Raid system, especially when working outside the pocket or attacking the middle of the field. His high-end throws are NFL-caliber, particularly on layered touch passes and back-shoulder fades. However, inconsistent decision-making under pressure, turnover-worthy tendencies, and a “hero ball” mentality hold back his projection. If Klubnik improves his post-snap processing, trust in progressions, and short-area ball placement, he has the skill set to develop into a quality NFL starter in the right system. Rocco Becht, Iowa State Ht/Wt: 6-1, 210 | Class: R-Junior Current Grade: Low-Level Starter Potential (6th–7th Round Projection) Potential Ceiling Grade: High-End Starter Potential (2nd–3rd Round Projection) Player Comparison: Brock Purdy × Andy Dalton × Colt McCoy Analysis: A coach’s dream and the son of a former NFL first-rounder, Rocco Becht has quietly developed into one of college football’s most efficient and poised quarterbacks. In 2024, he passed for 3,505 yards and 25 touchdowns with only 9 interceptions, adding 318 rushing yards and 8 more scores—leading Iowa State to an 11-3 record, a Big 12 Championship appearance, and a Pop-Tarts Bowl win. Becht owns an active school-record 18-game streak with at least one touchdown pass and has orchestrated multiple clutch fourth-quarter comebacks. While he lacks elite arm strength or physical measurables, his ability to manipulate coverages, make accurate throws under pressure, and manage tempo make him a high-floor NFL prospect. If he improves his intermediate placement and consistency against disguised coverages, Becht could rise into the Day 1 conversation as a system-ready quarterback with long-term starter potential.

Xavier Nwankpa, Iowa Analysis: Nwankpa brings NFL-ready size and downhill power as a strong safety. His 2023 breakout campaign showcased his range and tackling ability, though 2024 brought inconsistency in space. He’s best in box-heavy alignments or quarters shells, where he can trigger downhill and support the run. With improved zone vision, he could push into Day 2.

  • LaNorris Sellers NFL Draft Scouting Report: Elite Tools, First-Round Ceiling

LaNorris Sellers NFL Draft Scouting Report: Elite Tools, First-Round Ceiling LaNorris Sellers enters the 2025 college football season as one of the most physically gifted quarterback prospects in the country. At 6’3”, 240 pounds, the redshirt sophomore from Florence, South Carolina, possesses the type of size, athleticism, and arm strength that turns heads in NFL front offices. He’s a true dual-threat quarterback with dynamic playmaking ability both in and out of structure. Coming off a breakout redshirt freshman campaign in 2024—where he earned FWAA National Freshman Offensive Player of the Year and SEC Freshman of the Year honors—Sellers is already on the radar as a potential early declare for the 2026 NFL Draft. But to solidify himself as a first-rounder, there’s one critical area he must improve. The Measurables Height: 6’3” | Weight: 240 lbs Class: Redshirt Sophomore | Hometown: Florence, SC Strengths Elite Physical Tools - NFL-ready frame with explosive mobility. Sellers runs with power, accelerates with ease, and absorbs contact like a fullback. His physicality is rare—even among dual-threat prospects. Arm Strength & Platform Flexibility - Can generate top-end velocity from various arm angles. Easily drives deep outs and vertical shots without needing a perfect base—placing him among the top arm talents in college football. Playmaker Mentality - Posted two 100-yard rushing games in 2024 and regularly created outside of structure. His run threat forces defensive coordinators to account for him every snap. Leadership Traits - Named a team captain as a redshirt freshman—rare for the position. Sellers is respected in the locker room and shows maturity beyond his years. Areas for Improvement Turnover Risk Under Pressure - Despite only 7 INTs, Sellers logged 19 turnover-worthy plays in 2024. His 8.5% TWP rate when pressured ranks among the bottom 20 nationally—indicative of poor decisions under duress. Processing & Time to Throw - Averaged 2.66 seconds to throw from a clean pocket, among the 10 slowest in the FBS. Under pressure, that ballooned to 4.16 seconds, suggesting hesitation and slow reads—not just play extension. Mechanical Consistency - Footwork often breaks down beyond the first read. He’ll drift off-platform unnecessarily, leading to erratic ball placement—especially in rhythm-based concepts. Ideal NFL Scheme Fit Sellers projects best in an offense that blends vertical concepts, play-action, and designed QB run elements—a structure that allows him to stress defenses with both his arm and legs. Think Greg Roman-style designs, or systems where dual-threat traits are maximized without sacrificing deep/intermediate timing concepts. NFL Comparison Ceiling : Anthony Richardson – Elite athletic ceiling with rare traits, but still learning to play the position with discipline. Floor : Josh Dobbs – Valuable backup with mobility and a live arm, but decision-making volatility limits long-term starting upside. Stylistic Comp : Jalen Milroe – SEC dual-threat dynamo with similar burst, deep-ball velocity, and processing questions. 2026 NFL Draft Outlook LaNorris Sellers currently grades as a Low-Level Starter Potential on the Football Scout 365 scale. That places him in the developmental Day 2/Day 3 range with upside to ascend into Round 1 if he sharpens his post-snap processing and reduces turnover-worthy decisions in 2025. His tools and leadership traits are undeniable—and with another year under his belt, Sellers could become one of the most polarizing and intriguing quarterback prospects in the 2026 NFL Draft class.

Quick Release & Mechanics – Klubnik’s release is compact and efficient, allowing him to generate consistent velocity to all areas of the field. Mechanically polished for a college quarterback. Middle-Field Accuracy – He’s at his best attacking the intermediate middle. Throws with touch and confidence on digs, deep crossers, and seam routes—flashes NFL-level timing. Off-Script Playmaker – Thrives when the play breaks down. Can escape pressure, reset platforms, and deliver accurate passes on the move. Mobile enough to extend and convert with his legs. Leadership & Game Experience – 28 career starts and two-time ACC Championship Game MVP. Mature leader with strong command of the offense and locker room. ⚠️ Areas for Improvement Anticipation Timing – Still a “see-it, throw-it” passer. Must speed up his mental clock and trust windows earlier, especially against NFL-level coverage. Inconsistent Ball Placement – Klubnik has stretches where his accuracy dips, particularly when throwing off-platform or under duress. Needs to improve consistency with footwork. Overconfidence in Arm Talent – Occasionally forces throws into tight coverage or bypasses check-downs trying to create a big play. Must develop better risk management in high-leverage situations. 🧠 Ideal NFL Scheme Fit Klubnik fits best in a modern spread-to-pro hybrid system that emphasizes intermediate timing concepts and allows him to use quick-game rhythm with off-script freedom. 🧩 NFL Comparison Ceiling: Tony Romo – Mobile, creative, instinctive passer with clutch playmaking ability and feel for pressure. Floor: Sam Howell – Talented and tough but inconsistent with anticipation and prone to occasional chaos under pressure. Stylistic Comp: Bo Nix – Athletic, experienced college QB with strong mechanics and leadership intangibles who thrives when the play breaks down. 📈 2026 NFL Draft Outlook Cade Klubnik currently grades as a Day 2 NFL Draft Prospect on the Football Scout 365 scale and is trending toward day one status in the 2026 NFL Draft. His 2024 breakout season showcased significant year-over-year improvement, especially in how he operated under pressure and took command of Clemson’s offense. If Klubnik continues to evolve as an anticipatory thrower and sharpens his decision-making in 2025, he won’t just push Clemson back into the College Football Playoff—he’ll elevate himself into the QB1 conversation in what looks to be a deep and talented quarterback class.
